Indmar has a pedigree going back 50 years in the inboard marine industry and a proud tradition of pointing the way forward. Indmar, the world’s largest privately-held manufacturer of gasoline-powered inboard marine engines, has pushed the envelope much like an athlete, introducing new innovations and technologies that enable the sport and the industry to progress and grow.

The Challenges

Indmar’s customer service team wanted to maximize the peak boating season by innovating their automation and adding advanced features to improve their dealers’ online experience.

There were two main challenges it was facing:

ONLINE DEALER PORTAL

• Infor Mongoose Platform is good for building Syteline ERP, but not a good option for building user-friendly eCommerce websites and warranty management systems.
• It was hard to maintain and customize.
• Searching for parts and engines was challenging due to the vast database, which contained nearly 20 million records of engines and parts.

INFOR CLOUD INDUSTRIAL (SYTELINE) ERP SOFTWARE

• API was not working as documented (especially pagination).
• Many, many, advanced features required experienced programmers.
• It must connect with the online portal perfectly.

The Solutions 

Developed a full-capacity Magento eCommerce website in 3 months, which the in-house team could not deliver for years

• Account Management: Extended capabilities built-in to manage a full suite of services to order parts, review order history, dropship parts, view credit limit balance, pay and view invoices, track shipments, file a warranty claim, track a warranty claim status, transfer a warranty, register an engine, store credit card for faster checkout, newsletter subscription, training classes sign-up, etc.
• Modernized Warranty: Simplified user experience and more efficient warranty claim processing and tracking. New ability to start claims, save, and finish later. Register engines, submit claims, and transfer warranties that allow you to track the status 24/7.
